The deep-field recording made by the James Webb Space Telescope in 2022 showed thousands of galaxies on a tiny slice of the vast universe with a total of 12.5 hours of exposure. The recording also highlighted the faint structures of extremely distant galaxies, thus providing the most detailed picture of the early universe to date. The turmeric prints made with anthotype were made of Helemba and my own environment, which I exposed in the dark, such as the deep field pictures, and then developed them with the help of sunlight.
At the same time, photography in the dark also refers to the ever-increasing light pollution, because artificial light has consequences in addition to not being able to see the wonderful starry sky: it also affects our sleep, our health, the wildlife at night and the creatures of the seabed. Since the turmeric prints cannot be fixed, they are still light-sensitive, so they can easily be destroyed by sunlight, thus they are covered with a textile as a protective layer, with which I would like to draw attention to the importance of protecting the existing natural values.
