Foucault explains the individual’s subjection to power systems, and thus the subject’s subjection to certain forms of social pressure – the impact of which calls into question the receptive attitude and subjectivity itself – in his essay “on the death of the subject”. The power system primarily affects the individual by offering forms of organization with which the individual is ultimately subordinated to the power and thus becomes vulnerable. When civilization consolidates into new social forms regulated by power, individual initiative can no longer take effect. Capitalism is characterized by rapid production and the belief that everything can be replaced – this is how the two entities, system and person, cancel each other out, which is not equal to zero. The alienated findings of this are the abandoned spaces, the multitude of different wastes, in which man himself becomes the waste produced by the system as well. I tried to express this paradox in this performance. The organic existence of man appears in the dynamism of the hands, the unshakable and eternal belonging of the body, and the naturalness of the canvas. The veiling and suppressing of identity, the use of plastic, trash, and the colour black express replaceability, and thus the impersonality of the identity as a subject. The counterpoint and dynamics of these two forms the drama within the images, which is reinforced by the contrast between the voice of artificial intelligence and human voice in the audio.
